UNH pollster Andrew Smith will speak to business leaders about recent political trends and forecasts for the November election at a luncheon event to be held March 3. Presented by the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, the NH Institute of Politics, the NH Democratic Party and the NH Republican Party, “Shifting Sands? Handicapping the November Election” will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester.
Smith, who is director of the University of New Hampshire’s Survey Center at Carsey Institute, will discuss new polling data and analysis completed in February and what it may mean for both major political parties in the November elections. He will address topics and questions such as:
-
Will the Democrats again emerge as the majority party in November?
-
Will the Republicans regain control of the House, Senate and/or gubernatorial seat?
-
What is the effect, if any, of Scott Brown’s U.S. senatorial win in Massachusetts?
-
How do President Obama’s federal policies influence voters in New Hampshire?
-
How crucial are the independent voters?
-
What are accurate predictors of voter behavior and turnout?
The cost to attend the event is $35 for BIA members, Capitol Connect members, NH Democratic Party members, NH Republican Party members and NHIOP patrons, and $49 for all others.
